I chose to paint Bilngkumu, the Saltwater crocodile because it is part of the stories I grew up with. Bilngkumu is the mighty guardian of the river – ancient, powerful and silent. They move like a shadow, calm and strong and always watching. Painting Bilngkumu is my way of showing respect and staying connected to Culture and Country.
